VentureScan ("we", "us", "our") operates the website venturescan.app and provides an AI-powered startup analysis platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our services.

By using VentureScan, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you disagree, please discontinue use of the service.

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account data: Email address and optionally your full name, collected when you register.
• Startup idea content: The text and context you submit for analysis. This content is processed by our AI provider and stored to show you your past analyses.
• Payment data: Billing information is handled exclusively by Paddle (our payment processor). We do not store credit card numbers or bank details. We receive subscription status, plan tier, and a Paddle customer ID.
• Usage data: Number of analyses run, subscription tier, timestamps. Used to enforce plan limits and show you your usage.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited — collected automatically via standard web server logs.

We do not collect or sell your data for advertising purposes.

• To provide and improve the VentureScan analysis service
• To create and manage your account
• To process subscription payments via Paddle
• To enforce plan usage limits
• To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
• To detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
• To comply with legal obligations

The startup ideas and context you submit are processed by our third-party AI provider to generate your analysis. By submitting ideas to VentureScan, you acknowledge that your content will be processed by an external AI service operating under its own privacy policy.

We do not use your submitted ideas to train AI models. Your ideas are stored in our secure database solely to show you your past analyses. You can delete any analysis at any time from your dashboard, which permanently removes it from our systems.

Your data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We work with SOC 2 compliant infrastructure providers.

We implement industry-standard security measures including authenticated access controls that ensure users can only access their own data, and secure credential management for all service integrations.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your data.

We use the following third-party providers, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — data infrastructure (supabase.com/privacy)
• Anthropic — AI processing (anthropic.com/privacy)
• Paddle — payment processing and subscription management (paddle.com/privacy)

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to third parties other than those listed above as necessary to operate the service.

VentureScan uses minimal cookies strictly necessary for the service to function:

• Authentication cookies: Set by Supabase to maintain your login session. These are session-scoped and deleted when you sign out.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar third-party analytics tools.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate data (e.g., update your name in Settings).
• Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data. Email us at privacy@venturescan.app.
• Portability: Request an export of your data in machine-readable format.
• Opt-out: You can delete individual analyses at any time from your dashboard.

For GDPR requests (EU/EEA residents) or CCPA requests (California residents), contact us at privacy@venturescan.app and we will respond within 30 days.

We retain your account data and analyses for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Paddle may retain billing records for longer as required by financial regulations.

VentureScan is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
